Things to do

Now to the fun part of this guide, cool things to do during your Stay in Vienna:

Haus des Meeres

A lot of cities have aquariums and so do we. But ours is build inside a old WW2 bunker with a beautiful view and a bar on top of it. It is right next to the “Mariahilfer Straße” and you can buy tickets locally or on their Website. You can also find some more useful information on there.

Price: 21,90€ / 16,40€ for Students

Time: 2,5 - 3h

Tiergarten Schönbrunn

Not only do we have an amazing aquarium inside the city, but we also have one of the best zoos in the world. Don’t believe me? Here are is are sources which I definitely not handpicked out of the internet in my favor: roadaffair or wieninfo. For tickets go online or buy it locally.

Schloss Schönbrunn and Park

Right next to the zoo, Schönbrunn offers a beautiful Park and one of the best-known imperial palaces.  This is also probably known as one of the biggest tourist hotspots in Vienna and if you really want to experience the one of the places Vienna is most known for in the world it is a must see.

Price: Park - free, Palace tour - 32

Time: 1,5h

Wurschtelprater aka the amusement Park Prater

Another example of something sharing a Park is the Green Prater and the Wurschtelprater. I will talk about the Green Prater next but for now we will look into the amusement Park side of this Park.

The Wurschtelprater was founded over 250 years ago and still holds up to this day. Different to most amusement parks you don’t have to pay to enter and afterwards you can use the rides, here you can enter the park for free and pay for the rides individually. So even if you don’t plan on going on any rides it is still worth wandering through the park just looking around as it has a lot to offer.

This one I can personally really recommend as it is free and you can find something there for everyone. Important side note: If you want to use any of the ride you will most likely need cash as they rarely take card, but there are a lot of ATMs placed around the park.

Price: free entry - rides vary in price

Green Prater

Right next to the Wurschtelprater is the Green Prater, one of the best-known parks in Vienna and one of the the biggest. As some of you maybe know through the Green Prater reaches the “Hauptalle” where 2019 a new marathon world record was created.

I would recommend renting a bicycle to go down the “Hauptalle” from “Praterstern” down to “Lusthaus”. It Is fairly easy to do as it is just one long avenue that goes straight. But of course, if you just plan on walking in the Park that is also fine. You can find the Vienna Roundnet Club Tuesdays in the Park on the Zirkuswiese having our usual training.

Donaupark and Donauturm

On of the highest points in Vienna you can visit is the Danube Tower located in the 22nd District and also in a park. It counts as Viennas highest landmark and you can either take the 779 steps long stairs or the elevator to the top.

Price: 18€

Time: 1h

MUSEUMS

For every Museum interested person Vienna has something to offer. There are so many interesting museums in Vienna even I cant keep track on all of them From the “MuseumsQuatier” to the “Kunst Historische Museum” and the “Natur Historische Museum”. I will link some of the most famous museums I found and known, but the best you can do is to explore and find out for yourself which museums is best for you.

There are many many more places to visit in Vienna I tried to write down some of the ones that maybe not immediately pop up if look up any other Vienna guide. But I will totally recommend you looking up even more places to visit or ask me (Moritz) in person if you see me this week around :) Vienna has a lot to explore and just wandering around the city is an Adventure of itself.

Mariahilfer Straße

Mariahilferstraße: One of the best places to go on a shopping spree or just wander around and get something to eat or having some Ice cream. It is locate in the 7th district and just perfect for a little walk and to explore a bit.
